When Asking a Friend Is Just Not Enough

Sukhasana
"A growing body of knowledge to date is positive in showing that online counseling can have a similar impact and is capable of replicating the facilitative conditions as face‐to‐face encounters" (Richards & Viganó, 2013)

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have had to change how they live and work (Behan, 2020). Feelings of despair, distress and fear have increased, as well as feelings of anxiety and depression (Behan, 2020). New social distancing measures have also made it more difficult for some to access the support they need to cope with their feelings during the pandemic. During these challenging times, it is especially important to seek out support, and thankfully there are many ways to do so at home. There is a plethora of online wellness resources available for the public that can help cope with feelings of anxiety and depression. One of these resources includes online mindfulness and meditation exercises (Behan, 2020). Practicing mindfulness and meditation during the COVID-19 pandemic is effective for helping us acknowledge our fears and our circumstances, which can allow us to observe that, like our thoughts, this period in our lives shall pass (Behan, 2020). Today, Shana will be showing you how you can practice mindfulness and meditation from the comfort of your own home.
